Russia and Sudan Discussed Cooperation in Energy

The Minister of Energy and Oil of Sudan Jaden Ali Obaid discussed with the delegation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (CCI of Russia) on September 29 in Khartoum the prospects for investment and the participation of Russian companies in the economy of the East African country.

“We strive to expand cooperation and increase joint projects, especially considering the fact that Russian enterprises have high technologies, as well as financial and technical capabilities,” Jaden Ali Obaid said after the meeting.

He added that Sudan is open to the development of solar energy and is committed to creating stations that use environmentally friendly sources. Moreover, in light of the current crisis, Khartoum is making efforts to reduce the load on the power lines and rationalize consumption.

The delegation of the CCI of Russia leaded by the Chairman of the Russian-Sudanese Business Council Viktor Chemodanov, expressed the desire of Russian industry companies to enter the local market, especially since Sudan is considered the gateway to Africa and has many opportunities in the field of renewable energy sources, generously funded today by international organizations. Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia announced the readiness of Russian enterprises to cooperate. It is expected that during the Energy conference to be held in Russia in October with the participation of the Sudanese delegation, the parties will sign a number of agreements in this area.
