The Chamber has Developed Measures to Support the Mining Complex of Russia in the Face of New Sanctions

On May 17, 2022, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a joint meeting of the Supreme Mining Council of the NP "Miners of Russia" and the Committee of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Energy Strategy and Development of the Fuel and Energy Complex "On the tasks of supporting the mining complex of Russia in the context of Western sanctions."

 

The meeting was opened and moderated by Yury Shafranik, Chairman of the Committee of the RF Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Energy Strategy and Development of the Fuel and Energy Complex, Chairman of the Supreme Mining Council of NP "Miners of Russia".

 

Welcoming the participants of the joint meeting, Dmitry Kurochkin, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, named a number of key challenges facing the mining industry, including the mobilization of investment resources to launch high-tech import substitution projects. According to the vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the mining industry needs to form new centers of integrated development in Siberia, the Far East, and the Arctic, based on the deep processing of natural resources, the use of new domestic developments, and also promote solutions with lengthening value chains within the country.

 

Dmitry Kurochkin drew the participants' attention to the emerging opportunities for introducing innovative Russian technologies and developments into production, citing examples of successful cooperation between the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a number of industrial enterprises and regional administrations. He also informed about the possibilities of regional and municipal chambers of commerce and industry to assist (together with large companies and development institutions) in the implementation of investment projects in the production of environmentally friendly energy sources.

 

In conclusion, the participants of the meeting summed up the results of the discussion of the reports and approved the main activities of the NP "Miners of Russia" for the period up to 2025. As a result of the discussion, a resolution will be prepared with proposals that will be sent to the relevant ministries and departments.
