Katyrin: "A New Page of Opportunities is Underway in the History of Trade with Iran"
15.11.2022

On November 15, a Russian-Iranian Business Forum was held in Tehran with the participation of a  Russian delegation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which unites entrepreneurs from more than 20 regions of Russia.

The President of the Chamber Sergey Katyrin noted in his address that "among all the problems and difficulties, a new page is opening today in the history of trade and economic cooperation between our countries with unique opportunities for the comprehensive development of our cooperation."

Mr.Katyrin noted the role of the chambers of commerce and industry of Russia and Iran, which, according to him, are active participants in this process. Many delegations were represented at the level of heads of local chambers.

The President of the Chamber pointed out that throughout the year the delegation exchange was actively developing. According to him, live communication between our entrepreneurs and a real interest in the implementation of specific agreements and proposals for cooperation largely predetermined the decision of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the need to conduct a large-scale response business mission to Iran.

“In the process of preparation, we once again became convinced of how great the interest of Russian businessmen in Iran is today. We do not travel to every country with such a representative team, more than 100 people. The desire of Russian business to develop trade ties with Iran is clearly demonstrated by the growth dynamics of Russian exports,” Mr. Katyrin said.

“We see good prerequisites for building up cooperation in almost all areas: from agriculture to high technology, from energy to engineering, textiles and tourism. Mutual investments and cooperation in special economic zones represent a great potential,” the head of the Russian Chamber noted.

According to him, today, in the conditions of new foreign economic realities, the Russian market opens up new opportunities for cooperation for friendly countries. “For its part, the Chamber’s system is ready to provide you with appropriate information and marketing support,” Mr. Katyrin promised.

One of the lessons of the pandemic was the realization that “online” will never replace the format of live human communication. “And any product, before buying, it is better to evaluate personally and touch it yourself physically!” - said the head of the Chamber.

Representing the Russian delegation, Vladimir Padalko, Vice President of the Chamber, spoke about the features and opportunities of the regions that are open to active collaboration with Iranian business.

A presentation on the Opportunities and Exhibition program of Expocentre JSC was made by its General Director Alexei Vyalkin.

At the forum, Vadim Chubarov, Vice President of the Chamber, spoke with information about the work of the legal block of the Chamber of Commerce. In his speech, he outlined the main areas of legal activity at the Chamber, among which he highlighted participation in the legislative process, work on the preparation and issuance of force majeure certificates, as well as the development of arbitration in Russia. Vadim Chubarov dwelled in detail on the activities of the International Commercial Arbitration Court (ICAC) at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. He spoke about the statistics of the consideration of the Court of Disputes under international sanctions, the practice of enforcing the Court's decisions abroad, the development of a regional network of the Court's branches, and Russian legislation on arbitration.
