28.11.2022

On November 28, Orenburg hosted the 7th meeting of the Russian-Kazakhstan Business Council on the topic “Effective business partnership: how to eliminate infrastructure gaps?”

Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Dmitry Volvach, Chairman of the Russian part of the Russian-Kazakhstan Business Council, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Vladimir Padalko, Chairman of the Kazakh part of the Russian-Kazakhstan Business Council, Deputy Chairman of the Board of NCE RK "Atameken"  Timur Zharkenov.

In his welcoming speech, Vladimir Padalko called the development of relations at the regional level the most important element of the architecture of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia gives priority to this direction of its activity, he stressed.

In 2021-2022, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia and territorial chambers, with the support of the Chamber of Foreign Trade of Kazakhstan, held about 100 events aimed at developing bilateral business contacts: trade and economic missions, business forums, contact exchanges, thematic round tables. Despite the difficulties associated with the pandemic, many of these events were held in person, Vladimir Padalko said.

“This confirms the keen interest of regional business in working with Kazakhstan. Our chambers of commerce and industry have specific proposals in many areas of cooperation. Great opportunities for joint work lie in the field of industrial cooperation, including in free economic zones.”

Vladimir Padalko drew attention to the fact that due to the break in established logistics chains, the use of the transit potentials of the border regions of Russia and Kazakhstan, the creation of a “seamless” logistics environment, which will contribute to the development of efficient transport corridors of transcontinental significance, is of particular relevance.

As a survey conducted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation showed, Russian entrepreneurs are concerned about such pressing issues of Russian-Kazakh cooperation as the need to integrate the terminal and warehouse infrastructure of the two countries, develop a unified billing system, modernize checkpoints, roads and railways.
There was also a session on the topic “High-speed transport corridors. The role of business in the development of Eurasian transport corridors”, which was attended by Alexei Antonov, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Saratov Region, Dana Bekbaubova, Director of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Aktobe Region, Natalia Struntsova, General Director of Silk Way LLC, and Bakhyt Uspaev, Deputy General Director of KTZ Express JSC.

It was decided to hold the next meeting of the Russian-Kazakhstan Business Council in 2023 in Kazakhstan during the Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia with the participation of heads of state.

In the afternoon, Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Padalko participated in the plenary session of the Forum, in which the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part online.
