A Meeting of the Russian-Uzbek Business Council in Samarkand

On December 1, Samarkand hosted a regular expanded meeting of the Russian-Uzbek Business Council. The meeting was held as part of the Russian-Uzbek business forum, timed to coincide with the official visit to Uzbekistan of the Chairman of the Government of Russia Mikhail Mishustin.

The meeting was attended by President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia Sergey Katyrin and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan Davron Vakhabov.

The meeting brought together over 300 people - heads of economic ministries and departments, business organizations, territorial chambers of commerce and industry, as well as companies and enterprises of the two countries.

The Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov and Advisor to the Prime Minister - Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Geology and Mineral Resources Bobir Islamov addressed the meeting participants with a welcoming speech.

The Russian side was represented by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexei Gruzdev, Chairman of VEB.RF Group Igor Shuvalov, Chairman of the Russian-Uzbek Business Council Andrey Kuzyaev, President of the National Association of Wholesale Distribution Centers Sergey Lisovsky, General Director of Transmashholding JSC Kirill Lipa, and about. President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Ilya Umansky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Novostal-M Holding Ivan Demchenko.

First Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Omonollo Nasritdinkhojaev, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Ibragimov shared their vision of the state and prospects of Russian-Uzbek cooperation.

The Russian-Uzbek Business Council was established in 2016 and operates under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. The main goal is to promote the promotion of goods and services of Russian companies to the Uzbek market. The business council includes 177 companies of various categories of economic entities, starting with large businesses, such as: LLC KZ ROSTSELMASH, PJSC MAGNITOGORSK METALLURGICAL WORKS, JSC GLONASS, FSUE Moscow Endocrine Plant, JSC METALLIST- SAMARA, etc., as well as small and medium-sized businesses.
In May 2022, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Administration of the Tomsk Region and the Russian-Uzbek Business Council. In August, members of the Council took part in the Forum of Heads of Regions of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
