The Final Meeting of the Russian-Sudanese Business Council in 2022 at the Chamber

On December 14, the final meeting of the Russian-Sudanese Business Council took place in the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Vladimir Padalko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan to the Russian Federation Mohammed Sirraj took part in its work.

The meeting was moderated by Viktor Chemodanov, Chairman of the Russian-Sudanese Business Council.

In his welcoming speech, Vladimir Padalko noted the intensification of relations in the Russian-Sudanese direction. However, despite all efforts, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation came to the conclusion that there is still little information in the Russian business community about the business environment, the economy, and the export-import capabilities of companies in Sudan. “Next year, the key task is to get a complete database on the sounded directions,” Vladimir Padalko noted. According to him, the trade turnover between the two countries fluctuates around $300 million a year. “Of course, this level does not correspond to our bilateral potential,” concluded the vice-president of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mohammed Sirraj said that there are various industry projects in Sudan that may be of interest to Russian companies and investors. We are talking about oil and gas production, agriculture, woodworking and other areas. “Sudan is a good gateway for companies and investments in the African continent. At the same time, the Khartoum International Exhibition is an excellent platform for Russian investors, where they can pick up projects, establish contacts not only with Sudanese partners, but also with partners from other African countries and even other continents. Representatives of many countries come to the exhibition,” said Mohammed Sirraj.

Victor Chemodanov reported on the work done in 2022, the formation of plans for the next year and the presentation of the 40th session of the Khartoum International Exhibition.

Representatives of Russian companies that are interested in developing cooperation with Sudanese partners spoke during the meeting. Dmitry Smirnov, Deputy General Director of Zarubezhneft JSC, Dmitry Sigov, Director of SPII Gidrospetsproekt LLC, Sergey Poroshin, Head of the International Hand-to-Hand Combat Federation of the Russian Federation, made brief presentations on the work of the companies and promising projects.
