The Russian-Georgian Business Council, which will coordinate the efforts of Russian entrepreneurs to enter the Georgian market, has been established under the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. On February 6, Expocentre hosted its founding meeting. It was attended by representatives of 12 territorial chambers of commerce and industry, as well as 16 companies and organizations, including 6 Georgian ones.

The participants were greeted by the Vice President of the Chamber Vladimir Padalko. He noted that the launch of the Russian-Georgian Business Council is a landmark event. Business Councils have existed at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia for more than 30 years, and Evgeny Primakov became the ideologist of this important vector.

As Vladimir Padalko recalled, there are currently 77 business councils operating under the Chamber, their activities extend to almost all continents. Dozens of them have a "mirror" structure in foreign countries.

“In the absence of an intergovernmental dialogue with Georgia, the business council is intended to become, in fact, the main place for business contacts. We believe that the creation of such a structure will give impetus to the expansion and strengthening of business ties with Georgian partners, and will help restore trust in relations between our countries,” said the Vice President of the Chamber.

Before council, according to him, there are important tasks. First of all, this is assistance to Russian companies in finding opportunities to enter the Georgian market, establishing direct ties with partners and product suppliers, promoting investment cooperation projects, and identifying new promising niches for interaction.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, for its part, is ready to provide the Council and its leadership with maximum assistance, Vladimir Padalko added.

During the meeting, the chairman of the Russian-Georgian Business Council was elected. The head of the Board of Directors of IK Rumb LLC (a company that is a member of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Vice President of the National Fund for the Preservation of Cultural and Historical Heritage and the Development of Sustainable Tourism, Yuri Balashov, became the Chairman.
