Leonid Lozhechko Elected Chairman of the Russian-Iranian Business Council (RIBC)

At the organizational meeting of the Russian-Iranian Business Council held at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on February 16, Leonid Lozhechko was elected its chairman.

 

From 2015 to the present, Leonid Lozhechko has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shaham Pars Pouya Tehran, Vice President of the International Academy of the Fuel and Energy Complex, since June 2022, a member of the Board of Directors of Eurasia-Shipping-Caspian LLC. Since October 2022, he has been Deputy Chairman of the RIDS.

 

The meeting was opened and conducted by the Vice President of the Chamber Vladimir Padalko, who, on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, expressed gratitude to the previous head of the Council Vitaly Vantsev for his significant contribution to the development of Russian-Iranian trade and economic relations and effective work as Chairman of the Russian-Iranian Business Council (hereinafter referred to as RIBC ). In his opening speech, Vladimir Padalko noted the explosion of Russian business interest in the Iranian direction and said that over the year the Business Council managed to give a big impetus to the development of cooperation between private companies in Russia and Iran. He also pointed to the significant presence of Iranian entrepreneurs in the recently held international exhibition PRODEXPO-2023 and others.

 

Pavel Kalmychek, Director of the Department for the Development of Bilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, spoke at the meeting, naming mutual settlements and logistics, primarily the delivery of goods to Iran and other countries, as the main problems of bilateral economic development. According to him, in 2022, a high indicator of foreign trade was updated, which increased by 20 percent and amounted to $4.9 billion. The representative of the Ministry of Economic Development noted the need to work on the diversification of trade with Iran.

 

Deputy Chairman of the Business Council Boris Bogushev introduced Leonid Lozhechko to the meeting participants, whom he described as a person well known to the Iranian side.

 

At the meeting of the Council, Elena Shutovskaya was approved as the Executive Director of RIDS, who submitted a report on the work from October 10, 2022 to February 10, 2023.

 

The composition of the members of the Russian-Iranian Business Council was approved, a new version of the Regulations on the RIBC was adopted, and the draft RIBC Work Plan for 2023 was adopted as the basis.
