President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin held a meeting on March 22 with the heads of Business Councils (BC), where they discussed the development of business council institutions and possible ways to increase the efficiency of their activities in the new conditions.

Recalling that the Institute of Business Councils at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has a long history (the first Business Council was established in 1992 with Spain), Sergey Katyrin noted that timely and well-coordinated work of Business Councils with state authorities is very important. Sergei Katyrin stressed that, as the past year has shown, in the "new" conditions, business expects concrete practical assistance from us. Another important task facing business councils today is to identify systemic problems and additional reserves in trade and economic relations with a partner country, promptly bring information about urgent business needs to the relevant government agencies. “And it is this aspect of the work of the Business Councils that our working meeting is devoted to,” he said.

Director of the Department of External Relations of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Alexander Kopkov informed about the proposals of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia on the development of the institution of business councils and amendments to the new version of the Standard Regulations on the Business Council.
