
President of the Chamber Sergei Katyrin, during a meeting on September 7 with the Ambassador of Iraq to Russia Qahtan Janabi, expressed the readiness of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Russian-Iraqi Business Council to provide comprehensive support to Iraqi business in contacts with the Russian business community.
The head of the Iraqi diplomatic mission, for his part, presented an extensive agenda for upcoming bilateral contacts. Including in connection with the upcoming visit to Russia of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
The ambassador also announced the holding of the 47th international fair in Baghdad, in which Russian companies could take part. At the same time, it was proposed to hold a specialized exhibition of Russian industry in Iraq.
The parties discussed the possibility of holding a meeting of representatives of the business circles of Russia and Iraq at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
Sergei Katyrin called on the Iraqis to develop business cooperation with Russian regions that are interested in foreign markets and have great trade and economic potential.
“The range of goods in mutual trade should be expanded so that cooperation is not limited only to the oil and gas complex,” the head of the Chamber emphasized.
He also noted that the specialized exhibition Prodexpo, the largest international exhibition of food and beverages in Russia and Eastern Europe, is traditionally of great interest to foreign businesses. It will take place on February 5-8, 2024 at Expocentre. The head of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry invited the Iraqi side to take part in the exhibition and informed about the possibility of organizing a presentation of Iraq during such an exhibition. “This will have a great effect and will lead to serious impact,” emphasized Sergei Katyrin.
The trade representative of the Iraqi Embassy in the Russian Federation, Liwa Hammadi Al-Farhani, also spoke at the meeting.
