Vice President of the Chamber Vladimir Padalko Spoke at the Conference “80 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between Russia and Syria”

The participation and role of Russian business in restoring the war-ravaged economy of Syria and the history of the activities of the Russian-Syrian Business Council were presented by the Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vladimir Padalko, on July 23 at a round table at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry “80 years of diplomatic relations between Russia and Syria.”
Vladimir Padalko spoke about the role of the Business Council in restoring the infrastructure of Syria after the defeat of ISIS (an organization banned in Russia) and the expulsion of terrorists. During his speech, he showed the participants of the round table a video that captured the scale of the destruction of Damascus after the liberation of the Syrian capital.
Since 2017, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with the Russian-Syrian Business Council, with the support of government authorities of Russia and Syria, has been carrying out systematic work to promote the strengthening of bilateral relations in the trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, emphasized the Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In recent years, twenty-one large-scale humanitarian actions have been carried out in Syria under the motto “With love from Russia,” which covered ten provinces of the country. 30 thousand families received assistance, Vladimir Padalko said.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Bogdanov took part in the round table, who read out a welcoming letter from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and made a report on the topic “On the state and prospects for the development of Russian-Syrian interaction.”
Syrian Ambassador to Russia Bashar Jaafari read out a greeting from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Compatriots Abroad, Faisal Miqdad. The Syrian Ambassador also presented memorable gifts and orders to Russian representatives and military personnel.
The round table was attended by the military attache of the Syrian Embassy in Moscow, Brigadier General Dayub Abdelhamid Ali, members of the Federation Council Ilyas-Magomed Umakhanov and Sergei Muratov and others.
The round table was moderated by Oleg Karpovich, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, and Kamnakesh Fahed, Press Secretary of the SAR Embassy.
The meeting was attended by ambassadors of Arab countries and of states of the Middle East.
