On August 27, the organizational meeting of the Russian-Armenian Business Council was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. During the meeting the new head of the Council was elected.
Vladimir Padalko, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, opened the meeting and reminded that on June 10 the updated agreement on cooperation between the CCI of Russia and the CCI of Armenia was signed. The signing took place during the business mission of textile companies organized by the CCI of Russia with the support of the Russian-Armenian Business Council.
“The business mission was attended by representatives of light industry from different regions of Russia. The main goal of the Russian business mission was the conclusion of mutually beneficial contracts. But we are also considering new formats of cooperation: localization of production in Russia and Armenia, creation of joint projects in various sectors,” the Vice President of the Chamber emphasized.
Sergey Paltov, Deputy Director of the Fourth Department of the CIS Countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, drew the participants' attention to the stable positive dynamics of trade between Russia and Armenia: “The economic union between the two countries is developing dynamically, despite the presence of a number of unresolved issues. Russia remains Armenia's leading economic partner with a share of over 35 percent in the foreign trade balance. This is both encouraging for us and has a positive impact on the economic well-being of Armenian citizens,” said Sergey Paltov.
Vladimir Padalko noted the regular business events organized by the regional chambers of Russia and Armenia, the participation of business structures in various exhibitions, as well as the work within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia. At the same time, the Vice President of the Chamber called for new measures to develop trade and economic cooperation:
“The objective conditions of cooperation between our countries require constant interaction and assistance in solving the problems of our companies. For example, transport and logistical difficulties, issues of payments under foreign trade contracts are constantly on the agenda,” said Vladimir Padalko.
The Vice President of the Chamber invited the participants of the meeting to formulate concrete steps to intensify trade and economic cooperation, noting that the membership of both countries in the Eurasian Economic Union allows cooperation not only in the bilateral format.
“We expect the Russian-Armenian Business Council to take practical steps that will help unite not only business groups but also the peoples of our countries,” the Vice President concluded.
Vladimir Padalko introduced the new Chairman of the Russian-Armenian Business Council Araik Tatoyan, general director of TGG Group LLC, chairman of the board of directors of Lyubinskaya Poultry Farm CJSC. In turn, Arayik Tatoyan introduced his deputies Rafael Abrahamyan, Edmon Evoyan and Areg Aghasaryan. Senik Avanesyan was appointed Executive Director of the Russian-Armenian Business Council.
The representatives of the new leadership familiarized the participants with the key events of the Russian-Armenian Business Council planned for September-December 2024. Among other things, the Council will participate in the 23rd session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia and in the business program of the Eurasian Economic Forum. In the coming months the Russian-Armenian Business Council’s action plan for 2025 will also be approved.
