On August 27, Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Padalko maded welcoming remarks at the session "The Role of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of BRICS Megacities in the Development of Economy and Entrepreneurship", which was held in Moscow at the Expocentre as part of the BRICS International Municipal Forum.

In his speech, V. Padalko noted that with the expansion of BRICS, the role of the association in world affairs is growing, including in the global economic arena. In this context, it is extremely important to support formats within BRICS that facilitate the establishment of direct contacts between entrepreneurs of our countries. One of such interaction formats is the BRICS International Municipal Forum.

Vladimir Padalko noted that chambers of commerce and industry, due to their status and capabilities, are called upon to play an important role in realizing the economic potential of BRICS to achieve the goals of socio-economic development and convert this potential into support for development goals on a global scale.

The President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Platonov and the Minister of the Moscow Government, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations of the City of Moscow Sergey Cheremin also addressed the participants of the session with a welcoming speech.

The heads of the Russian regional Chambers, as well as the Chambers of the cities of the BRICS member countries took part in the session.

Following the session, a joint statement of the BRICS Chambers was adopted on the intention to create an Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the BRICS megacities.
