Sergey Katyrin Attended the Plenary Session of Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok Where President Putin Spoke

On September 5, the Plenary Session of the Eastern Economic Forum was held in Vladivostok, in which the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin took part.
The meeting was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Vice Chairman of the People's Republic of China Han Zheng.
Vladimir Putin said that agreements worth more than 10.5 trillion rubles were signed at the last three Eastern Economic Forums held in Vladivostok.
"The Eastern Economic Forum has become a recognized platform for establishing strong business contacts and discussing strategic issues of developing the Russian Far East and the entire Asia-Pacific region," he noted.
"At the last EEF, it was announced that international priority development areas would be created in the Far East. They should offer global, competitive conditions for foreign investors. And first of all, of course, from friendly countries. The first international priority development area is supposed to be created here, in Primorsky Kray. Our Chinese friends and the Republic of Belarus, with whose participation a new deep-water port may appear in Primorye, are showing great interest in it. I ask the State Duma and the Government of the Russian Federation to speed up work on the bill necessary for the launch of international priority development areas,” he said.
According to Vladimir Putin, an additional factor for expanding work with foreign partners should be the possibility of using foreign design and construction standards, which is provided for from September 1.
Vladimir Putin also said that the joint project of Russia and China to develop Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island in Khabarovsk Kray should be launched as early as 2025. According to him, the project involves the creation of large logistics complexes in the region, new checkpoints across the state border and the expansion of the road network. This is a good example of both cooperation with foreign partners and investments in construction and job creation.
Vladimir Putin also noted that the Far East has become “the most important factor in strengthening Russia's position in the world,” the country's “flagship” in the new global economic reality. He emphasized that the main business ties, trade routes and the entire vector of development are increasingly reoriented to the East and the global South. And the Far Eastern regions "provide direct access to these growing promising markets, allowing us to overcome the barriers that some Western elites are trying to impose on the entire world."
During the day, the Chamber's delegation, headed by President Sergei Katyrin, visited the Zvezda shipbuilding complex. The facility is being built in the bay of the city of Bolshoy Kamen in Primorsky Krai and is becoming the largest shipyard in Russia, designed for the construction of all types of sea vessels and production platforms for work on the Russian shelf.
EEF-2024 is being held from September 3 to 6 in Vladivostok on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. The delegation of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also includes Vice Presidents of the Chamber Ilya Zubkov and Vladimir Padalko.
