Sergey Katyrin Announced Full Integration of New BRICS Members Into Activities of BRICS Business Council

On October 17, Sergey Katyrin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the BRICS Business Council in 2024, held the annual meeting of the BRICS Business Council at the Moscow World Trade Center.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin sent a greeting to the participants.

Sergey Katyrin noted that this meeting was awaited with a special mood. And there are several reasons for this.

“Firstly, during the Russian BRICS chairmanship in 2020, due to the pandemic, we were unfortunately unable to hold the final events of the BRICS Business Council in person in Moscow, as planned. Therefore, it is a special pleasure for us to welcome all our dear guests today at a common “round table” here at the World Trade Center of the Russian capital. Secondly, we are sincerely pleased that representatives of all BRICS countries are present at our final meetings today in a new, expanded composition. We can say that today we have a full “quorum” for the first time,” he said.
The Head of the Chamber introduced new members of the Business Council from Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the UAE.
"I am confident that your participation in the dialogue that is being conducted at the site of our Business Council will allow us to solve the current tasks of developing and deepening trade and economic cooperation that the BRICS association faces in its new composition even more effectively and in a "constructive manner". I believe that one of the main tasks - the integration of new members into the Council - which we, as chairmen of the BRICS Business Council, have set for ourselves for the current year, has been completed," said Sergey Katyrin.
Sergey Katyrin dwelt in detail on the results of the BRICS Business Council's work for the current year.
"I would like to note that in our work we tried, firstly, to maintain the continuity of the agenda of our Business Council, and secondly, to supplement it with new relevant initiatives in accordance with the "request" that we received from the businesses of our countries. This directly concerned the issues of increasing the level of transport and logistics connectivity of the BRICS countries, improving communications and modern logistics schemes with an emphasis on the development of the railway network,” he said.
The second priority area of the agenda was the creation of a sustainable system of financial settlements, payment services and a mechanism for compiling BRICS credit ratings, as well as the development of cooperation in insurance markets.
Thirdly, special attention was paid to the creation of a single digital infrastructure within the association, as well as cooperation in such an important and relevant area as artificial intelligence.
Traditionally, as Sergey Katyrin noted, we continued to work together in the field of agriculture, energy, and professional training.
“Our colleagues from the working groups have done a lot of work, and today they will present us with the main results and recommendations, which in turn were included in the draft Annual Report,” said the Chairman of the BRICS Business Council in 2024. - Today, our portfolio contains about 40 recommendations on all the main areas of work of the Business Council.
