The 16th BRICS summit is being held in Kazan on October 22–24 as part of the Russian presidency under the motto “Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security.”
On the first day of the summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin held meetings with President of the New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, Chairman of China Xi Jinping, and President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The heads of delegations also attended a concert and an informal dinner for BRICS leaders.
On October 23, the Chairman of the BRICS Business Council in 2024, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin will report on the BRICS business forum.
Also during the day, a report by the President of the BRICS New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff will be heard, the Chairman of the BRICS Interbank Cooperation Mechanism, the head of the VEB.RF corporation Igor Shuvalov and the Chairperson of the BRICS Women's Business Alliance Anna Nesterova will speak.
It is planned that at the end of the meeting in an expanded format, the BRICS leaders will adopt the final document of the summit.
Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Padalko is also taking part in the summit.
