A business lunch with the participation of the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and members of the official UN delegation was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan on October 23.
The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan Shamil Ageyev showed the guest and members of the delegation the Primakov Auditorium, where the UN Secretary-General left a note in the guest book.
The meeting with the business community of Tatarstan was opened by a presentation of the economic and investment potential of the republic. The head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina spoke about the achievements of the Republic of Tatarstan in the field of sustainable development.
Antonio Guterres admitted that he had long dreamed of visiting Tatarstan: "Tatarstan simultaneously knows how to preserve its traditions, heritage, and at the same time it is focused on the future. We can say that Tatarstan is small, but at the same time its great heritage makes it huge. I look with great respect at how you combine your great history and focus on the future. Here, both Christian and Muslim religions exist in harmony – I like it. I wish Kazan, Tatarstan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry a wonderful future,” he noted in his speech.
The business lunch was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Leyla Fazleeva, Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilgiz Gilazov, heads of large enterprises of the republic and representatives of the business community.
Chairman of the Chamber Shamil Ageyev presented the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres with a national headdress – a tubetei and Tatar national clothing – a chapan.
Recall that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived in Kazan with a representative delegation to participate in the BRICS summit. At the airport, the UN Secretary-General was met by Chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
