The Ambassador of Tanzania Fredrick Kibuta addressed the participants of the event with a welcoming speech. In his speech, he noted the high level of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tanzania.
Deputy Chairman of the Council, Director for Interaction with Government Authorities of JSC Cordiant Anton Akimov, reported that, despite the large distance between the two countries, Russia and Tanzania have established long-standing friendly relations not only in the sphere of trade and economic cooperation, but also in the sphere of culture and education. In 2022, the Joint Intergovernmental Russian-Tanzania Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was established, the first meeting of which was held in October 2024.
"On the sidelines" of the commission meeting, a business forum was held, attracting more than 150 Tanzanian entrepreneurs. A. Akimov also noted that Tanzania occupies a favorable geographical position, which can be used as an "entry point" to the markets of African countries. Speaking about mutual trade between the two countries, Anton Akimov noted a steady increase in trade turnover. The main goods of Russian export are grain and mineral fertilizers, and imports are tea and coffee. At the same time, according to the expert, there is great potential for the development and diversification of mutual trade, for example, in the field of pharmaceuticals and IT products.
Detailed information about the investment climate of Tanzania was presented by the manager for attracting foreign investment of the Center Daudi Rigandi and the investment specialist of the Center Linda Lumu. Also during the webinar, questions from Russian participants in foreign economic activity were answered regarding the conditions for entering the Tanzanian market for individual goods. For example, when asked how to find a reliable partner in Tanzania, Tanzanian experts recommended contacting the Tanzania Private Business Association or the Tanzanian Embassy in Moscow.
