
On March 26, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a meeting between the Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Padalko and the Chargé d'Affaires of Iraq in the Russian Federation Khalil Aladli, dedicated to expanding trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Iraq.
Vladimir Padalko noted that such an instrument as the Russian-Iraqi Business Council has been created and is successfully functioning to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
The Vice President noted that in February, during a meeting of the Russian-Iraqi Intergovernmental Commission in Baghdad, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Iraq, the purpose of which is to deepen and diversify economic cooperation between the business communities of both countries. He also emphasized the importance of exchanging business information between entrepreneurs of the two countries, which helps strengthen the partnership. Vladimir Padalko added that a number of regional chambers of commerce and industry of Russia are already actively interacting with Iraqi regions, and this practice needs to be developed. In this regard, he proposed to organize a presentation of the capabilities of Iraqi regions in the format of a video conference at the Chamber.
The Chargé d'Affaires of Iraq, in turn, noted that the main task of his diplomatic department is to assist Iraqi entrepreneurs in entering the Russian market. He reported that Iraqi products are already presented on the shelves of Russian stores and expressed interest in increasing the number of Iraqi companies operating in Russia.
The meeting was also attended by the Director of the Department of External Relations of the RF CCI Ilya Nesterov, the Executive Director of the Russian-Iraqi Business Council Maxim Malarchuk and employees of the Economic Department of the Iraqi Embassy.
