On February 7, the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a meeting between the Vice President of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ekaterina Lebedeva and the delegation of Gansu Province (PRC) headed by the Deputy Director of the Department of Trade of Gansu Province Ms. Huang Ni.

The participants of the meeting presented the potential of the regions, discussed the prospects and features of trade and economic cooperation between St. Petersburg and China.
“China has been Russia's most important trading partner for many years. Cooperation is based on close positions on key global and regional issues. Our countries are united and brought closer by two fundamental factors: the growth of trade exchange and the implementation of joint projects in the field of energy and transport. Thus, according to the results of the third quarter of 2022, trade with China increased by 32.7 percent compared to the same period and amounted to 8.7 billion US dollars, which demonstrates a high interest in developing relations between our countries,” said Ekaterina Lebedeva.

The main industries of Gansu province include agriculture (production of cotton, flax and linseed oil, corn, melon, picking wild herbs that are actively used in Chinese medicine), mining, such as chromium, cobalt, copper, gypsum, iron, lead, zinc and others, of which there are more than 170 kinds in total in the province, as well as power generation, petrochemicals, oil extraction machinery and building materials.

The parties exchanged memorable gifts and agreed to increase the volume of cooperation.
