On July 17, a delegation from the province of Mazandaran of the Islamic Republic of Iran visited Volgograd to discuss the prospects for cooperation with the administration of the Volgograd region, as well as to search for new partners.

Members of the delegation took part in the round table meeting, where they discussed cooperation with Volgograd entrepreneurs, and also held negotiations with interested businessmen. In addition, they visited several large industrial enterprises, such as OJSC Volgogradneftemash and the Volga cargo port.

A working meeting was held between the Governor of the Volgograd Region Andrey Bocharov and the Governor of the Mazandaran Province Seyyed Mahmud Hosseinipur. As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to create working groups to develop the following areas: energy, medicine, education, the humanitarian sphere, culture, logistics, as well as to search for proposals for their activities.

Negotiations continued at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Volgograd Oblast. Deputy Governor Vasily Ivanov emphasized that in the last 2 years Volgograd and Mazandaran have been interacting very closely, and the purpose of this meeting is to develop the existing potential of the regions in terms of joint cooperation and reach a new level of export-import relations.

President of the Chamber of the Volgograd Region Vadim Tkachenko spoke about the history of relations between the two regions. Back in 2019, with the assistance of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Volgograd Oblast, the Trade House of the Mazandaran Province was opened, which was also visited by delegates. More than 1,700 entrepreneurs from Russia and Iran received advice here on possible exports and imports of products in the field of industry, agriculture, medicine, building materials, consumer goods, etc., and more than 20 contracts were concluded.

“Given the work done and evaluating the results, we can conclude that cooperation has a beneficial effect on the economies of the regions. Therefore, we must continue to contribute to their development,” added Vadim Tkachenko.
