On May 14, the Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Russia, Mohamed Yongavo, visited Kirov and met with Andrei Usenko, President of the Vyatka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.

The head of the diplomatic mission of the African country spoke about the economic potential of Sierra Leone, noting that the country is rich in minerals, but is experiencing difficulties with their industrial processing, and Russia and the Kirov region have the necessary production capacities. The meeting participants also discussed opportunities for interaction in areas such as tourism and education.

Andrey Usenko, as a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, supported the Ambassador’s proposals to sign an agreement between the countries’ universities.
- The Kirov region is now not only actively developing, but becoming more open: to projects, cooperation, new partners. It is a region rich in resources, with excellent economic potential and a strong governance apparatus. We definitely have something to offer and we know what resources we need,” noted Andrey Usenko.

The head of the Vyatka Oblast Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ambassador of Sierra Leone outlined plans for further interaction, which will be carried out through the international system of chambers of commerce and industry.       

The Ambassador visited the Kirov Fire and Rescue Legal Police College, took part in the awards ceremony for the participants of the Victory Parade, talked with members of the Local Branch of DOSAAF of Russia in Kirov and got acquainted with the activities of the Russia-Africa Committee. The Ambassador had the opportunity to informally communicate with the Chief of Staff of the Reception Office of the President of the Russian Federation in the Kirov Region, Major General of Justice Oleg Mezrin, Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry office in Kirov Natalya Lopatina, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Director of the Kirov Regional Museum of Local Lore, Advisor to the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Kirov Region by Yuri Balyberdin, Member of the Public Chamber, Vice President of the Federation of Children and Youth of the Kirov Region Zairbek Labazanov.
