On October 8, as part of the cooperation between JSC "Novosibirsk Region Development Corporation" and the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a video conference "An Hour with a Trade Representative" was held, dedicated to the development of trade and economic cooperation between Novosibirsk businesses and the Republic of South Africa.
The video conference was attended by: Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Africa Maxim Bureev, Advisor to the General Director of the NSO Development Corporation Vasily Plotnikov, representatives of companies and business communities of Novosibirsk, including members of the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Maxim Bureev, giving general recommendations for all types of business, noted the high competitiveness, exactingness and regulation of the South African market at present. To prepare for the export of goods to South Africa, serious investments and preparation are required - studying the information. This can be helped by referring to the materials on the website of the Russian Export Center, which explains in detail the features of certification in the country, etc. It is necessary to study the possibilities of advertising, actively participate in exhibition events in the country, which is the center of economic development of Africa, because has all the conditions for this (good transport logistics, modern exhibition centers, interest of businesses from neighboring countries).
The Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in South Africa helps Russian companies organize participation in exhibitions in the country, search for partners, assess their solvency. There are examples of successful interaction and conclusion of effective contracts.
Communications with government and registration authorities can only be carried out by residents of South Africa, so it is important to have a physical presence in the country (contract partner, distributor, your representative from among local residents).
It should be taken into account that business in Africa largely depends on the "first impression". A successful first contact helps to create human sympathy and then mutual trust between partners. It is important to carefully check the documents of potential African partners. In case of doubt, you need to contact the Trade Mission, which will use its resources to check the documents.
Logistics has become more expensive, but in general, logistics networks are developed, and you can always find a suitable way to deliver goods from Russia to South Africa.
After-sales service is important. It is necessary to have warehouses, a staff of trained people and support in the local language. At the end of the online meeting, Maxim Bureev answered questions asked by the participants of the event.
