Opening the business meeting, the President of the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry Fyodor Degtyarev emphasized that at present the centers of business diplomacy are precisely the Business Councils - a brand created by the Russian system of chambers of commerce and industry, and their importance for the systemic development of trade and economic cooperation between regions cannot be overestimated. The Russian Federation has 46 of them. The Russia-South Africa Business Council is one of the most effective.

Fyodor Degtyarev recalled that the presidents of South Africa and Russia spoke about the development of bilateral relations on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan. Vladimir Putin noted the growth of trade turnover and prospects in a number of industries. Cyril Ramaphosa called Russia a valuable ally and friend.

"Our goal is to fulfill the cooperation plans defined by the presidents of our countries. First of all, this is an increase in quantitative and improvement in qualitative indicators of trade turnover. The second important aspect is the terms of mutual settlements. Emphasis on settlements in national currencies is also a target task of the Business Council. If the parties are not just business partners, but true allies and friends, all the goals will be achieved," the head of the South Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry concluded.

Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Chelyabinsk Region Dmitry Glukharev addressed the guests of the region with a welcoming speech.

As part of the business meeting, the parties discussed issues of developing economic cooperation, as well as prospects for joint projects in energy, metallurgy, mechanical engineering and engineering services.
